US Ambassador talked about the Sheki American Center: "Wherever I go in Azerbaijan, I enjoy the beauty of nature, the hospitality and warmth of the people, as well as local delicacies."
The ambassador stated that the United States actively assists the demining of Azerbaijani territories along with other partners in Azerbaijan, including ANAMA.
"The United States has allocated $ 500,000 for demining activities in Azerbaijan to clear mines and prevent people from being injured by mines, and this week the Azerbaijani government held an international conference on demining. The conference participants recently visited Agdam, and I would like to note that two representatives of the State Department also visited Washington and attended the conference", Earle Litzenberger noted.
The ambassador expressed his satisfaction that the Marshall Legacy Institute of the United States has agreed with the Azerbaijani Government to provide them with mine detection dogs. He also highlighted that in total, 300 such dogs are planned to be sent to Azerbaijan.
Ambassador also touched on the training of the mine detection dogs stating that it costs $ 25,000 as this is the most expensive training for dogs.
"The Azerbaijani government accepted to pay one-third or about half of the total cost to train these dogs. The rest of the cost will be covered by the US government. There is a great need to clear mines in Azerbaijan as it is one of the 10 most polluted countries in the world due to landmines. I am very pleased that, along with the United States, other international partners are helping Azerbaijan in this humanitarian need," he added.
