Israel MFA shares post on 30 years of diplomatic relations with Azerbaijan

Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made a post on its Twitter account on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Israel.

The post reads: “As we mark 30 years of diplomatic relations with our good friend Azerbaijan, we celebrate the excellent people to people connection and deep strategic cooperation between our countries.”

Israel has been one of the first nations to recognize the independent Republic of Azerbaijan. Diplomatic relations between Azerabaijan and Israel were established in April of 1992. The strategic relationship included cooperation in trade and security matters, cultural and educational exchanges, etc. Relations entered a new phase in August 1997 following the visit of the then Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Baku.

Azerbaijan is one of the majority Muslim countries to develop bilateral strategic and economic relations with Israel. The countries have built a solid relationship based on genuine frienship between the Jewish and Azerbaijani people.

Azerbaijan and Israel cooperate closely in the field of energy: Israel buys 40 percent of its oil from Azerbaijan. Economic cooperation between Israel and Azerbaijan has been growing significantly.

Moreover, Israel has supported Azerbaijan in its just fight to liberate its territories from Armenian occupation. Following  the liberation of the Azerbaijani territories, Israeli companies become actively engaged in reconstruction of the liberated territories.
