Presently, oil products, especially diesel and gasoline, are offered at border markets in retail sales, he noted.
“Sales of oil products are conducted 20 kilometers away from borders in Khorasan Razavi, South Khorasan, and Sistan and Baluchestan provinces, bordering with Afghanistan and Pakistan,” he said, adding that gasoline and diesel will soon be sold in Kurdistan province bordering with Iraq.
Iran used to consume 104 million liters of diesel and import 460,000 liters of diesel in the past. But, it imported 840,000 liters of diesel the previous year.
The use of diesel in Iranian power plants fell by 37 percent in the first five months of the current fiscal year (March 21-August 22), reaching 1.7 million liters per day.
