The ceremony of presentation of the book titled “100 moments of Heydar Aliyev`s life” published in Azerbaijani and English languages in connection with the 100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev, an outstanding statesman of Azerbaijan within the framework of the international project “Publishing books dedicated to the legacy of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev” was held in the Brooklyn county of New York City, USA.

The presentation ceremony attended by representatives of the local authorities of the Brooklyn county of New York City, the local community, representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora operating in New York as well as public and political figures, scientific, educational and cultural workers, was organized with the joint organizational support of Emil Nasirli, the author of the book, the editor-in-chief of the "My Azerbaijan" international magazine, a corresponding member of the International Academy of Sciences, and Alexander Nisanov, our compatriot currently living in the United States, president of the World Biographies Assembly.

At the event, the dear memory of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and the martyrs of the Patriotic War, who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, was commemorated with a minute's silence.

Emil Nasirli, the author of the book “100 moments of Heydar Aliyev`s life”, editor-in-chief of the “My Azerbaijan” international magazine, corresponding member of the International Academy of Sciences welcomed the participants of the event and spoke about the way of life of the Great Leader, which is an example for generations, in the direction of strengthening the state of Azerbaijan and taking its rightful place in the world. Giving extensive information about the book “100 moments of Heydar Aliyev`s life” published in Azerbaijani and English within the framework of the “Publishing books dedicated to the legacy of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev” international project, its author Emil Nasirli also emphasized that taking into account that the Republic of Azerbaijan is located in a favorable geopolitical and geographical location and plays the role of a natural bridge between East and West, North and South, and at the same time has rich natural resources and hydrocarbon reserves, Heydar Aliyev began to attach special importance to the development and practical implementation of oil-gas and transport communication projects. Taking into account the economic situation of Azerbaijan at that time, Heydar Aliyev first of all ensured that the necessary work was done in order to attract foreign investments to the country. One of such measures was to protect the investments of foreign investors and create favorable conditions for them. In order to attract foreign investments to the country, first of all, it was necessary to ensure the realization of oil and gas projects and their introduction to world markets. In 1994, despite huge obstacles and difficulties, the first step in this direction was taken with the conclusion of the big oil contract called "The Contract of the Century".

Emil Nasirli also informed the participants of the event that the successful oil strategy of the great leader led to the increase of his international image and reputation along with the economic development of Azerbaijan. "As a result of Heydar Aliyev's new oil strategy, today the Republic of Azerbaijan has become the most dynamically developing, economically self-sufficient country in the region, independent of any country and at the same time implementing a completely independent policy. As a result of the domestic and foreign policy implemented by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan has now become the strongest and most dynamically developing country in the region," the author said.

Nasirli added that now Azerbaijan is one of the rare countries that conducts an independent foreign policy in a difficult geopolitical environment. Currently, Azerbaijan is the main participant in all regional issues, and no strategically important project in the region can be realized without Azerbaijan. The foreign policy strategy of Azerbaijan, which was founded by the Great Leader, has been successfully continued and developed today by President Ilham Aliyev, while maintaining its original style, and serves to further strengthen the country.

Later, Emil Nasirli thanked our compatriot Alexander Nisanov, the president of the World Biographical Assembly living in the USA, for his support in organizing the event and reminded that he had known Nisanov for quite a long time, which he dedicated to the national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev in the early 1990s. He pointed out that he helped the publication of miniature books. According to him, after moving to the USA, our compatriot actively helps the Azerbaijani diaspora living in this country, actively participates in most of the events related to Azerbaijan.

Speaking at the event, our compatriot living in the USA, President of the World Biographies Assembly, Alexander Nisanov, said that it is impossible to cover the Great Leader's titanic activities in the field of foreign policy in volumes of books. Nisanov also noted that Heydar Aliyev's incomparable services in establishing and developing relations with the United States, which is considered the superpower of the world, should be emphasized. The signing of the "Contract of the Century" in September 1994 was a positive turning point in relations between Azerbaijan and the West. With this, the superpower became interested in Azerbaijan, economic cooperation with it, its problems, geopolitical importance. That is why the USA declared that it recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and is in favor of finding a peaceful solution to the conflict.

Nisanov also emphasized that owing to the high diplomatic skill of President Ilham Aliyev, who continued the foreign policy course of the great leader Heydar Aliyev, Azerbaijan gained the opportunity to influence not only the processes taking place in the region, but also the processes taking place in the international arena.

Alek Brook-Krasny, a member of the New York State Assembly, Marietta Rosenthal, President of the Brooklyn-Baku Friendship Association and others speaking at the presentation ceremony held a large exchange of views about formation and development of new, mutually beneficial relations with all the power centers of the world, neighboring and non-neighboring states which has a special place in Heydar Aliyev's foreign policy and, their relations with large and regional states that have interests and influence in the South Caucasus.

At the end of the event, Emil Nasirli, the author of the book, corresponding member of the International Academy of Sciences, presented the “100 moments of Heydar Aliyev`s life” book to the event participants.
