Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis condemns European Parliament’s lates resolution

In a statement issued by Milli Majlis, the legislative body of Azerbaijan, the European Parliament has been accused of blatant bias towards Azerbaijan following its recent resolution adopted on March 13.

The resolution, titled “Closer ties between the EU and Armenia and the need for a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” has reignited tensions and drawn sharp criticism from Azerbaijani officials, AzVision.az reports.

The statement highlights the frustration and disappointment of Azerbaijani authorities regarding the European Parliament's alignment with the Armenian lobby. Milli Majlis characterized the European Parliament as “Azerbaijanophobic, Islamophobic, chauvinistic, and racist,” suggesting that it has failed in its duty to address the challenges faced by European nations and instead prioritized the interests of the Armenian lobby.

“It seems that the European Parliament has completely become a legitimate representative of the Armenian lobby,” the statement reads, reflecting Azerbaijan's concern over the bias displayed by the European Parliament.

The statement further accuses the European Parliament of disregarding Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty, despite its obligations as an international institution. The ongoing campaign against Azerbaijan's sovereignty, according to Milli Majlis, underscores the European Parliament's hostile stance towards the country.

The resolution's content, particularly, its support for separatist movements and failure to condemn Armenia's military provocations, has further fueled Azerbaijan's condemnation. The statement criticizes the European Parliament's stance on France's actions, suggesting that they exacerbate tensions in the South Caucasus region rather than support reforms.

“However, the current campaign against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country shows that the European Parliament has unequivocally gone on the offensive against Azerbaijan, putting aside hypocrisy and duplicity.

The open threats and demands against Azerbaijan contained in the resolution, the obvious support and attempts to resurrect separatists, the willful ignoring of Armenia's military provocations on the conditional border, as well as attempts to present France's actions, which are actually aimed at aggravating the situation in the South Caucasus, as alleged 'support for reforms in the army' and many other aspects are proof of this,” the statement concludes.
