Armenia's agreement to host COP29 in Baku is positive progress - deputy minister

During the COP29 presentation ceremony in Lachin, Deputy Energy Minister and COP29 Chief Executive Officer Elnur Soltanov expressed optimism about Armenia's agreement to host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku.

Soltanov highlighted the significance of this decision, stating that it signifies a positive step forward supported by the international community, AzVision.az reports. 

Leading global negotiations on climate change as the host of COP29 is a substantial responsibility, he emphasized.

Soltanov stressed the need for effective measures to combat the global climate crisis and underscored the importance of developing an ambitious agenda for action, particularly focusing on financial support.

He noted that efforts in this direction have already commenced.
