Novruz Mammadov on Azerbaijani and Armenian Presidents NATO meeting
Novruz Mammadov announced details of the meeting held between the Azerbaijani and Armenian Presidents and Secretary of State

Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, Head of Foreign Relations Department Novruz Mammadov announced details of the meeting held between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and US Secretary of State John Kerry.

Mammadov said that the previously unplanned meeting was held at Kerry’s suggestion.

Novruz Mammadov said President Ilham Aliyev restated Azerbaijan’s position at the meeting: “Azerbaijan’s position is just and based on international law. The head of state proposed the most constructive option that is in line with the spirit of modern international relations for the settlement of the conflict, while Armenian President Serzh Sargysan, as usual, expressed his country’s position in a manner unrelated to the situation. What seemed to me interesting was that John Kerry indeed approached the matters seriously. I came to the conclusion that the US Secretary of State accepts Azerbaijan’s position. From the words and statements of the US Secretary of State, I concluded that he will put much emphasis on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Because, during this meeting compared to previous ones, the first time ever I saw a more serious interest by the US in the conflict settlement. I thought Azerbaijan’s position seemed to him much more just and right while he was asking questions”.

Novruz Mammadov said Azerbaijan expressed its support once more to a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
