Amazon removes documentary that links vaccinations to Autism

The myth that vaccinations cause autism has been disproven time and time again—which is why a documentary promoting the anti-vax agenda is no longer be available on Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service as of March 1.

Amazon’s decision to remove Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe from its line-up came after Congressman Adam Schiff sent a scathing letter to CEO Jeff Bezos, blasting the company for encouraging the spread of misinformation about vaccines.

“I am writing out of my concern that Amazon is surfacing and recommending products and content that discourage parents from vaccinating their children, a direct threat to public health, and reversing progress made in tackling vaccine-preventable diseases,” the California Democrat wrote on Friday.

The letter comes as areas of the U.S., particularly the Pacific Northwest, are experiencing some of the worst measles outbreaks in recent history. Not to mention that the World Health Organization declared vaccine hesitancy one of the top 10 threats to global health in 2019.

Even more concerning is that despite numerous studies dispelling the belief that vaccines increase the risk of autism, the rate of vaccination among children worldwide is on the decline.

Dr. Anders Hviid, the author of one of the largest studies of the MMR vaccination, told CNBC, “Vaccine hesitancy is increasing. Today, we are seeing the results in the form of more and more measles outbreaks in Europe and the U.S.”

And Schiff pointed out that one of the major causes of the alarming trend “is the degree to which medically inaccurate information about vaccines surface on the websites where many Americans get their information, among them Amazon.” He urged the company to “act responsibly and ensure that [you] do not contribute to this growing public health catastrophe.”

Just hours later, Buzzfeed News reported that Vaxxed, along with another anti-vax documentary titled Shoot ‘Em Up, were no longer appearing in Prime Video search results.
