  EU will never recognize Israel

The European Union will never recognize Israel’s sovereignty over  the Golan Heights, until an agreement is reached between Israelis and Palestinians to resolve the Middle East conflict, including the status of Jerusalem, stated European Union's foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, speaking at a hearing in the European Parliament on foreign policy issues, TASS reported.

“As for the recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights by the United States, the EU’s position is simple and clear: the European Union does not recognize and will never recognize any of the territories occupied by Israel, and this also applies to the Golan Heights. Currently, five EU member states sitting in the UN Security Council have expressed our position on the

Golan Heights in New York in a joint statement, ”Mogherini said. She also condemned the policy of expanding Israeli settlements in the occupied territories in the West Bank.

“We consider this policy illegal and contradicting to international norms. Our strategic goal is to support this plan to create a two-state solution and to preserve the possibility of new negotiations between Israel and Palestine. ”
