Caridi's representative, Sarah Mednick, confirmed the actor's death, which took place Tuesday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
"From Broadway to film and television, Carmine spent over six decades entertaining audiences, and nothing made him happier. His talent, wit, warmth, and charm will be missed," her statement read. "Carmine passed peacefully, surrounded by friends and family, yesterday afternoon at Cedars Sinai Hospital."
Mednick told TMZ that his death was the result of complications following a fall.
Caridi played Carmine Rosato in 1974's "Godfather: Part II" and a different character, Albert Volpe, in 1990's "The Godfather Part III." He also starred as a building contractor in the 1986 Tom Hanks comedy "The Money Pit."
More recently, he appeared in a 2019 episode of HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm."
The actor is also known for being expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2004 for copyright infringement after he was accused of leaking screeners.
Caridi's rep touched on this controversial part of his past in a statement to TMZ.
"Perhaps Carmine's biggest regret was his involvement in a scandal that left him expelled from The Motion Picture Academy," the statement continued. "While exonerated by police and the FBI, Carmine was always deeply saddened by what had transpired."
