In his letter, the German president congratulated President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of 28 May – Republic Day.
Joachim Gauck expressed his satisfaction with Azerbaijan’s readiness to expand relations with both Germany and the European Union, adding that the fact that Azerbaijan has undertaken the expansion of the Southern Gas Corridor is a good example of this partnership.
Moreover, in his letter, the German president recalled that Azerbaijan will host the first European Games a few weeks later, praising the continuation of reforms in the country and adding that German, as reliable partner, supports and will support Azerbaijan in this regard.
