$2m worth of cocaine found washed ashore in New Zealand

Law enforcement officers said that 19 blue tightly packed batches of drugs were found on the shore, which prompted a further search via helicopter and teams on foot in case there are more drugs strewn across the coast.

“Eagle helicopter will be in the area today conducting a search of the wider area and we will be sending regular patrols in the coming days to continue to check for further washed up items,” Detective Inspector Colin Parmenter of Waitematä police said in a statement.

He urged people to immediately contact the New Zealand Police in case more packages turn up on the beach or anywhere in the vicinity.

The package contents tested positive for cocaine and the police are still investigating where these drugs came from.
