Rescuers have saved one person from the rubble of a collapsed building in Novosibirsk while eleven people might still be buried under the debris, according to a representative of the regional emergency services. The representative added that the injured person retrieved from under the debris has been taken to hospital.
Some 128 people and 33 units of equipment, including a team of cynologists, have been dispatched to the scene with more personnel expected to join the rescue efforts. The mayor of Novosibirsk Anatoly Lokot is on his way to the scene.
The Russian Emergencies Ministry said earlier on Wednesday it was verifying the information about the collapse of the one-storey building.
