Russia to launch its first crewless ship in 2020

Russia to launch its first crewless ship in 2020

The St. Petersburg-based Sredne-Nevskiy Shipyard will float out the country's first ship with crewless navigation technology in 2020, AzVision.az reports citing Xinhua.

TASS news agency said the research vessel "Pioneer-M" was designed by experts from the Sevastopol State University and would operate all year round in the Black and Azov Seas.

The length of crewless ship would be 25.7 meters with a width of 9 meters. It would be able to run at a speed of 10 knots and displace 82 tons.

Investment in the project totals 300 million rubles (about 4.7 million U.S. dollars).
