Organized by Korean Yonhap news agency and chaired by AZERTAC, the General Assembly (GA) brings together heads and representatives of 32 news agencies from 28 countries.

The second day of the conference focused on technological innovations in news release and broadcasting, as well as issues related to reliability in news industry and the fight against fake news.

The sessions, moderated by Editor-in-Chief of Australian Associated Press agency (AAP) Tony Gillies and Secretary General of the Alliance of Mediterranean News Agencies (AMAN) George Pennintaex, featured presentations by Dennis Wietzig, Duane Atkinson, Troy Macrat and others. The speakers highlighted copyright protection and tracking of photos released by news agencies on the internet, keeping statistics regarding news stories. The participants also exchanged their views on the impact of fake news on the media environment, ways to combat disinformation and the importance of reliability in news industry.

The 45th OANA Executive Board Meeting was held as part of the General Assembly. At the meeting, chaired by OANA President Aslan Aslanov, the issues to be considered by the General Assembly were discussed. They also discussed the venue and date of the next General Assembly, admission of new members, amendments to the OANA Statute, and the composition of the Executive Board.
