First case of coronavirus confirmed in Ukraine - Health Ministry

The day before, Saudi Arabia's health ministry confirmed, as quoted by the state-run news agency, the first case of coronavirus after an infected person had arrived from Iran through Bahrain.

Acting Head of the Ukrainian Health Ministry Igor Kuzin confirmed on Tuesday the first case of coronavirus in the country.

According to the official, a man, diagnosed with the coronavirus was hospitalised on Saturday after returning to Ukraine from Italy via Romania.

Since the beginning of the spread of coronavirus, Italy has become the worst-hit country outside of Asia. The country has suspended all flights to and from China and put around a dozen towns in the north, where most of the cases are clustered, under lockdown.

Public events have also been cancelled across the country, most notably the Venice carnival, Milan Fashion Week, and the International Journalism Festival in Perugia.
