Pope leads Easter Vigil Mass at St. Peter

For the first time ever, the Vatican has been celebrating the Holy Week events without audience in Saint Peter's Basilica.

Pope Francis is leading the Easter Vigil mass at Saint Peter's Basilica at the Vatican.

Easter vigil celebrates the Resurrection of Christ.

For the first time ever, the ceremony - which is being live-streamed, takes place without public due to the coronavirus pandemic.  

Currently, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Italy stands at 147,577, with 18,851 fatalities, according to the WHO.
