5.5-magnitude earthquake strikes off California coast

A powerful earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck 252 km west of Ferndale, California at 7:02 a.m. UTC, the US Geological Survey said, AzVision.az reports citing Sputnik.

The seismic activity was registered in the ocean at a depth of 10 kilometers.

There are no reports of destruction or casualties caused by the quake. No tsunami alert has been issued in relation to the tremor.
