President Ilham Aliyev chairs meeting of Cabinet of Ministers

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has chaired the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of socioeconomic development of the first half of 2020, AzVision.az reports.

The head of state made an opening speech at the event.

"Armenian Military Forced to Retreat" - President

"After that heinous provocative act, I immediately instructed to launch the second phase of the revenge operation. Over the past two days, the enemy, suffering numerous losses, was forced to retreat. According to the information we received, dozens of Armenian servicemen were killed, most of their checkpoints along the border were destroyed."
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made the remark during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of socio-economic development in the first quarter of 2020 and future objectives, AzVision.az reports.

Azerbaijani army inflicted strikes on Armenian army's stronghold, its military equipment, ammunition, command post, reserves in the depths of defence and manpower.

"I would like not to tell more about the operation because it is classified information and confidential. We just shared some videos with the public. These videos are only a small part of the operations carried out by the Azerbaijani Army. I think, it would not be right to share any more information amid this situation. However, these videos clearly show how accurately the enemy's infrastructure, stronghold, military equipment, ammunition, command post, reserves in the depths of defence and manpower have been destroyed."

President: "Azerbaijani army once again demonstrated its advantage in recent days"

"The Azerbaijani army once again demonstrated its advantage in recent days. I believe that this operation will take its place in the glorious history of the Azerbaijani army. Just like in 2016, during the April battles, we taught the enemy a lesson and liberated a part of the Aghdara, Fuzuli and Jabrayil districts."

The head of state made the remarks Wednesday during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of socio-economic development in the first quarter of 2020 and future objectives, AzVision.az reports.

“Two years ago, in 2018, as a result of a successful Nakhchivan operation, the Azerbaijani army liberated an area of more than 10,000 hectares and occupiers were expelled from these regions. The strategic heights taken over by the Azerbaijani army allow us the opportunity to control several settlements in Armenia. We exercise control over a road leading from Armenia to Nagorno-Karabakh. At one time, in the early 1990s, the Armenian forces that occupied part of the territory of Nakhchivan were expelled from these territories and the flag of Azerbaijan was raised on these lands.”

“This operation, the military confrontation of recent days, is yet another glorious victory for us. The people of Azerbaijan know this. These days I have been receiving letters from thousands of citizens, and they all express support. International military experts are of the same opinion, as evidenced by the real situation in the region. The Armenian forces failed to invade the Azerbaijani lands by a single centimeter and they will never succeed. On the contrary, if we wanted to, we could have taken control of a significant part of the lands on that territory of Armenia. But this is not our goal,” the head of state emphasized.

President Aliyev hails people's march in support of Azerbaijani Army

The successful operation by the Azerbaijani Army, the results achieved, as well as the military victory, of course, created enthusiasm in the Azerbaijani army, said President Ilham Aliyev.

The president said that the letters he received express full support for the activities the state is carrying out.

“Yesterday, a group of patriotic people marched towards the Alley of Martyrs in Baku to demonstrate their attitude to these activities, as well as to express their support for the Azerbaijani Army and me [the Supreme Commander-in-Chief]. I welcome this positive step. I’ve told that these people marched long distances by chanting slogans about me, as well as about our army, our people and Karabakh,” said President Aliyev, describing all this as another indicator of the people-government unity.

The head of state also touched upon the illegal actions taken by some provocative groups during yesterday’s march.

“Unfortunately, after the people came to the Alley of Martyrs, it seems that some provocative groups that had heard about this event somewhere also arrived at the site. Now, these groups are being identified. These provocative groups resorted to hooliganism, resisted the police and attempted to disrupt the public order. I personally instructed the interior bodies to ensure the people’s safety move to the Alley of Martyrs and regulate the traffic. I gave all these instructions to the Minister of Internal Affairs Vilayat Eyvazov last night. At the same time, I warned them to be on the alert, because it is not an exception that some provocative forces, representatives of the "fifth column" and traitors can take advantage of this situation to commit a provocation. Because sometimes unpleasant situations may occur at unorganized mass events. Therefore, the police officers performed their duty with dignity all the way up to the Alley of Martyrs. Police have also fully maintained the public order when people gather in the Alley of Martyrs," he added.

"However, I want to reiterate that a group of provocateurs tried to overshadow this beautiful and noble step and commit illegal acts. Of course, the police stopped their actions in a short time. Their identities are already being determined. All of them will be held accountable, and no one, as I said this morning, will be able to escape responsibility. Of course, they will be punished only in accordance with the law, if they will be punished by the court. We also ask for help from the public to identify them. I also ask the people who gathered there yesterday to identify those provocateurs. If they know those who want to commit provocation, let them inform us in order to find and punish them all," he said.

"Armenia immediately appealed to CSTO asking for help" - President Aliyev

I also would like to draw attention of the Azerbaijani community to one issue. As you know, Armenia, which committed insidious actions against Azerbaijan and silenced by Azerbaijani Army immediately appealed to CSTO asking for help, said President Ilham Aliyev.

"CSTO has nothing to do with it. I would like to restate that Azerbaijan did not violate the state border of Armenia committing provocations and crossing the territory of Armenia. In this case, what can the CSTO do about it? Second, this step shows their weakness and incapability. It indicates that Armenia will not be able to stand alone in front of Azerbaijan and they know it," the head of the state noted.

"We also know it. Appealing to CSTO is another manifestation of Armenia's cowardice. Once again they showed weakness of their authority. If you committed provocation, crim, you must answer it. Armenia hides information about their losses. We have operative information. We have reported about deaths of several Armenian servicemen.

When we reported that information, they confessed. It also happened in the April battles. Again it shows their helplessness and hypocritical policy. You recently arrested the CSTO Secretary General without asking any member state. Is it possible? It was a step, which completely violated all international regulations of behaviour. They arrested CSTO chief.

CSTO chief was released after pressures on Armenia. However, the criminal case has not been closed yet. They arrested the high representative of the international organization. After that, they blocked and put veto on the candidacy of a person who was considered to be CSTO head. It had to be in alphabetical order. After Armenia, the chief had to be representative of Belarus, and he was nominated. However, he was not allowed to start his activity within a year. Is this the attitude towards the CSTO? You have committed a provocation. Why do you appeal to CSTO asking for help? All members of the CSTO, except Armenia are our friends.

What should be the attitude of the CSTO countries to a state which is now funded by foreign funds, where almost all government officials are fragments of the SOROS fund and similar funds? I want to ask a rhetorical question. What made you to run away immediately and ask CSTO to help? You must answer for your insidious deed. You have answered and you will, " President Ilham Aliyev noted.

"We are proud that Azerbaijan has raised such skilled and brave sons", President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made the remark during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of socio-economic development in the first quarter of 2020 and future objectives, AzVision.az reports.
I want to reiterate that as a result of the measures taken to prevent the activity of the enemy, the Armenian army received a decent response. I have mentioned at the meeting of the Security Council that we will take revenge for our military servicemen and martyrs. They were devastated, and I'm sure it was a good lesson for them. However, yesterday and the day before yesterday, they again committed a military provocation and as a result of this provocative act several of our servicemen, as well as, General Polad Hashimov and Colonel Ilgar Mirzayev, were killed.

Today, I had a phone conversation with Samaya khanum, the mother of Major General Polad Hashimov. I expressed her my deep condolences and wished patience. I assured her that the heroism of the serviceman fallen for the Motherland would never be forgotten, his revenge has been and will be taken, and his blood will be avenged. May God bless such mothers who have brought up such a skilled and brave son for the motherland.

I must say that General Polad Hashimov was a man of great respect in the army. He showed his bravery in the April battles. He was twice awarded the highest state order by me. I gave him the rank of general.

During our phone conversation with Elvin, the son of Colonel Ilgar Mirzayev, I talked about his father's heroism. I said that the lives of our heroes, their courage and heroism for the Motherland should be an example for every young person. We are proud that Azerbaijan has raised such brave and skilled sons. I once again offer my condolences to their families and relatives. At the same time, I offer my condolences to the families and friends of all those who died in recent days. May God has mercy on our martyrs, may God heal our wounded servicemen.

I propose to commemorate the memory of our servicemen who died heroically for the motherland with a minute of silence.
