Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov congratulated his newly appointed Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov in a phone call on Friday, AzVision.az reports the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan.
The sides exchanged views over the bilateral relations and the development of strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Russia.
Azerbaijani FM Jeyhun Bayramov informed Russian FM Sergey Lavrov about the military provocation committed by the Armenian Armed Forces on the border and highlighted that the aggressive policy of Armenia is the main reason for the recent clashes.
FM Sergey Lavrov called both sides to strictly comply with a ceasefire and take measures to reduce the tension in the region.
