The president of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Rick Daems responded to a letter from the Speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament Sahiba Gafarova regarding the military provocation committed by Armenia in the direction of the Tovuz on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
PACE's Rick Daems said that this issue was brought to the attention of the relevant committees of the assembly. He expressed his confidence that the committees were closely monitoring the situation.
Rick Daems' letter to Sahiba Gafarova reads as follows:
“The PACE calls on the parties to refrain from actions that could create tension and deepen the conflict.
I urge the parties to continue cooperating with the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, to find a peaceful solution to the conflict and to ensure the security and protection of civilians”.
