We will continue to take all the necessary measures in the fight against the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said in his speech at an online meeting on measures taken to combat the coronavirus pandemic and socio-economic situation in the country.
"All of us are tired of quarantine. We work 24 hours a day to deal with the COVID-19 crisis. This disease does not have any cure, yet. Therefore, quarantine is the only way to protect our citizens and country and decrease the number of coronavirus cases, as well as contain the spread of the coronavirus. In this regard, we will continue to take all the appropriate measures. The quarantine regime will be eased whenever possible, as it has been eased since August 5", President Ilham Aliyev noted.
President Aliyev also highlighted that the citizens should take responsibility and follow the rules: "Citizens should understand that if we record a sharp increase in the case numbers following the softening of the restrictions, we will have no choice but to tighten it again. We do not want to do that. I want this process to continue gradually and to let us relax more restrictions. On the other hand, if the citizens do not follow the social distancing rules and the protective measures in public places, the case numbers will climb again. In that case, we would need to toughen restrictions. Of course, the economy would badly hit by these restrictions. I call all the citizens to understand their responsibilities. This is a very serious disease and problem for the world. When it comes to age, the coronavirus doesn’t appear to discriminate. Anyone at any age can become infected. If you fully comply with the rules and all the tasks are fulfilled, we will be able to ease the quarantine regime and return to normal."
