The head of state also laid a foundation stone for 385 MVA Gobu Power Station.

"Today Azerbaijan takes another major step in the field of electrical energy.  We laid the foundation stone for Gobu Power Plant. I believe that the construction of this station will be successful and the station will fully start its operation on time - in early 2022. It is an important step towards strengthening our energy potential. The generation capacity of the station is 385 MW. This station will find its place among the large stations built in Azerbaijan," President Ilham Aliyev said in his speech.

Certainly, establishment of new generation powers is a manifestation of our common development. The modernization of our energy system is compliant with the general development of our country and all work is being carried out in accordance with the plan. Over the past two years existing power stations have restored up to 1,300 MW of lost generation capacity. Major part of the work was carried out at the Thermal Power Plant (TPP) in Mingachevir. Generation capacity with 600 MW has been restored there. Today this power plant, which fully operates with 2400 MW power is our main source of energy. This power station will serve us in coming decades, ” President Ilham Aliyev also noted.
