 World Bank supports reforms in Azerbaijan

The Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov met with a delegation led by the the World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus in a video conference, AzVision.az reports citing Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan. 

Expressing confidence in the success of mutual cooperation, Minister of Economy congratulated the World Bank Country Manager for the South Caucasus Sarah Michael on her new appointment.

It was stated that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to relations with the World Bank. Currently, 4 loan and 18 technical assistance projects of the World Bank are being implemented in Azerbaijan. The challenges caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the support provided by the World Bank to minimize the socio-economic impact of the pandemic are also highly appreciated.

Sharing his views on the country's development priorities for the short and medium term, Mikayil Jabbarov spoke of economic reforms and structural changes, economic diversification, development of the non-oil sector and measures to increase competitiveness.

Sebastian Molineus said the World Bank supported the reforms in Azerbaijan and was ready to share its experience in many fields.
