Azerbaijan not responsible for Le Monde journalists injured in Nagorno-Karabakh

As you know, on October 1, a journalist and photographer of the French newspaper Le Monde was injured during the military clashes in Nagorno-Karabakh. French President Emmanuel Macron said at the EU summit in Brussels that the journalists will be evacuated by an ambulance plane.

Azerbaijan, for its part, would like to warn that it is not responsible for the fact that the French journalists arrived in Karabakh without the consent of the Azerbaijani side.

Azerbaijan's warning must be taken into account. At a time when active battles are going on, French journalists went to Karabakh controlled by the separatist regime without notifying the Azerbaijani authorities about it. It is quite clear that Azerbaijan cannot guarantee the safety of any media representatives, who arrive themselves in the war zone in Nagorno-Karabakh and adjacent seven regions without Azerbaijan’s consent. Taking all this into account, Azerbaijan is not responsible for such incidents.

Therefore, I would like to note that any foreign media outlets intending to cover the ongoing hostilities in the legal territory of Azerbaijan – Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions – must notify the Azerbaijani authorities about their intention.

At the same time, I would like to criticize the policy of the French newspaper, which sends its journalists to the conflicting zones in the world, but does not think over the issues of their personal safety. Azerbaijan is ready for any cooperation with foreign media outlets intending to cover the hostilities erupted as a result of the Azerbaijani army’s counter-offensive operations to retaliate Armenia’s military provocations.
