"Armenia poses serious threats to energy security" - SOCAR

"Citing the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office, some media outlet report that the armed forces of the occupying country launched missile strikes on the BTC section running through Azerbaijan’s Yevlakh district, but as a result of decisive measures taken by the Azerbaijani army, Armenia’s terrorist attempt was suppressed", said Ibrahim Ahmadov, deputy head of the public relations and events department at Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR, AzVision.az reports.

"The BTC export pipeline is currently operating as before", he said.

"According to the information we received from the pipeline operator, the BTC export pipeline is currently operating as before. The world's leading energy companies are among the stakeholders in the BTC pipeline. By targeting Azerbaijan's oil and gas infrastructure, Armenia poses a serious threat not only to our country's energy security but also of the European Union. This threat is not new, the last attack of the Armenian armed forces in the Tovuz region in July of this year directly endangered our oil and gas infrastructure of international importance."

"The long-term occupation of Nagorno-Karabakh and the seven adjacent regions of Azerbaijan by Armenia is a continual threat to international oil and gas pipelines. The Azerbaijani National Army is currently a key factor in ensuring the security of this infrastructure, suppressing Armenian attacks. The current counter-offensive operation conducted by the Azerbaijani Army seems to be the only factor that can completely eliminate the threats of Armenia by fully liberating the occupied territories. This will ensure the maintained security of our pipelines. "
