Military-political leadership of Armenia bears full responsibility for the situation in the region - Embassy

The deliberate firing of Azerbaijani civilian objects by Armenia once again shows that Armenia does not want to comply with the basic norms of international law, as well as its obligations.

These remarks made in a statement by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia in connection Armenia's violation of the terms of the ceasefire agreement reached in Moscow.

A ceasefire is declared from 12:00 on October 10, 2020 for humanitarian purposes for the exchange of prisoners of war and other detained persons and bodies of the dead, mediated and in accordance with the criteria of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

"Despite the humanitarian component of this agreement, the Armenian armed forces, in gross violation of the agreement, shelled the Aghdam and Tartar regions of Azerbaijan, as well as attempted to attack in the direction of Hadrut and Jabrayil. An ambulance collecting the bodies of Armenian soldiers in Sugovushan was fired by Armenia. It was reported that a medical worker was seriously injured as a result of the Armenian firing on an ambulance that was collecting the bodies of Armenian soldiers in Sugovushan. Note, the sanitary car had a white flag", the statement reads

"On October 11, at night, Armenia launched ballistic missile attack targetting civilians in Azerbaijan's second-largest city, Ganja, locating far from the front line, as a result many buildings were destroyed, 9 civilians, including women, were killed as a result of an attack. 34 civilians, including children, got wounded".

"In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan issued an official statement. The statement said that the firing on civilians and cities after the ceasefire agreement was another outrageous example of irresponsibility, while the Armenian leadership's calls for a ceasefire were nothing but hypocrisy and an attempt to gain time".
