PACE Chairperson of the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons Pierre-Alain Fridez (Switzerland, SOC) called for stopping the missile strikes on civilian areas, AzVision.az reports. 

The statement made by the Chairperson of the Committee has been published on PACE website (https://pace.coe.int/en/news/8073/-missile-strikes-on-civilian-areas-have-to-stop-says-migration-committee-chairperson).

"Missile strikes on civilian areas have to stop. The strike on the Azeri town of Barda, reportedly killing 21, is a tragedy", said Fridez expressing his deep concern over the humanitarian consequences of the conflict.

Mr Fridez reported that he has put the issue on the agenda of the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons, so that parliamentarians from the 47 member States of the Council of Europe can follow the situation carefully.

Note that during 2015-2017, the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe chaired by Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Sahiba Gafarova.
