Armenia was in danger of losing more than 20,000 troops, said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a live broadcast on Facebook, Azvision.az reports.
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan highlighted that Armenia and people are living in very difficult times.
"The war started on September 27, which resulted in the signing of a document leading to the disappointment of the people and many questions that were expected to be answered. Why was the document signed? We would have lost Khankendi. Many people say that if we lost Hadrut and Shusha, why does losing Khankendi matter? In fact, losing Khankendi would make us lose Askeran and Khojavend. In the early days of the war, these cities were in the background, so there were no defensive fortifications. And there was not enough military force to protect these cities", Pashinyan noted.
He also stated that losing these cities would make Armenian military forces to be besieged by the Azerbaijani Army: As a result, More than 20,000 soldiers and officers would be killed and taken hostage. The collapse of Lachin and Kalbajar will be inevitable. "
Pashinyan added that an important function of the commander is to set a task for the soldier noting that when a soldier is unable to influence the subsequent events in any way when he is unable to solve the problem, and when he is simply in danger of dying, the motherland must make sacrifices for their lives.
"That's why I signed this agreement. I chose the lives of 25,000 soldiers instead of my career and my life", he concluded.
