France can no longer be mediator - Ali Ahmadov

The resolution of the French Senate calling on the country's government to recognize the so-called "Nagorno-Karabakh Republic" is the most biased, harmful and unprincipled document in the world, deputy prime minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Ahmadov stated in his article regarding the resolution of the French Senate calling on the country's government to recognize the so-called "Nagorno-Karabakh Republic", AzVision.az reports.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the most important condition required of France, as one of the states taking on the role of mediator in the settlement of the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict in accordance with the mandate given by the UN Security Council, is objectivity and impartiality.

"Despite all the political nuances, sympathy and antipathy, the mediator is required to be impartial to each side of the conflict. The promises of the French state to show impartiality as one of the co-chairs of the Minsk Group in resolving the conflict in the face of President Francois Mitterrand have not been forgotten. The impartiality of a state that agrees to be mediator is a matter of respect for political morality and international law.”
