 Italian MPs arrive in Aghdam region - UPDATED/PHOTOS

A delegation led by Vice-President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies Ettore Rosato visited Aghdam region on December 6, AzVision.az reports.

The Italian MPs got acquainted with the situation in Azerbaijani territories liberated from the Armenian occupation. They have witnessed the vandalism committed by Armenians here for 27 years.

The head of the Azerbaijani-Italian working group on interparliamentary relations Azer Karimli and other Azerbaijani MPs accompanied the delegation led by Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Ettore Rosato.

A delegation of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy will visit the Aghdam region on December 6, AzVision.az reports citing the press service of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani Parliament). 

The Italian MPs will get acquainted with the situation in Azerbaijani territories liberated from the Armenian occupation. 

The head of the Azerbaijani-Italian working group on interparliamentary relations Azer Karimli and other Azerbaijani MPs will accompany the delegation led by Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Ettore Rosato.

On December 5, Italian MPs visited the area where many people were killed, wounded and destroyed as a result of the Armenian missile attack on Ganja city on October 11 and 17, and laid flowers around the destroyed apartment building in memory of the victims of the attack.

Note, Armenian Armed Forces launched a large-scale military attack on positions of Azerbaijani army on the front line, using large-caliber weapons, mortars and artillery on Sept. 27. Azerbaijan responded with a counter-offensive along the entire front.

On November 10, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia signed an agreement to end six weeks of fierce fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Under the agreement, Russian peacekeepers were deployed along the front line in Nagorno-Karabakh and the corridor between the region and Armenia.

A total of 1,960 Russian peacekeepers were deployed in Nagorno-Karabakh under a five-year mandate.

Also, according to the agreement, on 20 November, Armenia handed over the Aghdam region which lies to the east of Nagorno-Karabakh, to Azerbaijan. This followed on 25 November by the Kalbajar region to the northwest of Nagorno-Karabakh. 

Finally, on 1 December, Armenia handed over the Lachin District, over which the Lachin pass connecting Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia passes.
