Russia's MES sends new group to Nagorno-Karabakh

Russia is increasing the number of groups participating in the humanitarian mission in the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, AzVision.az reports. 

Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations has sent pyrotechnics, cynologists and psychologists to the region.

On December 6, an Il-76 plane of the MES took off from Moscow with an additional rescue team. The visiting group includes dog trainers from the 'Lider' Center, pyrotechnics and mine detectors, signalmen, specialists from the Noginsk Rescue Center and psychologists.

There was also necessary equipment for the activities of Russian specialists and three passenger buses.

Note, Armenian Armed Forces launched a large-scale military attack on positions of Azerbaijani army on the front line, using large-caliber weapons, mortars and artillery on Sept. 27. Azerbaijan responded with a counter-offensive along the entire front.

On November 10, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia signed an agreement to end six weeks of fierce fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Under the agreement, Russian peacekeepers were deployed along the front line in Nagorno-Karabakh and the corridor between the region and Armenia.

A total of 1,960 Russian peacekeepers were deployed in Nagorno-Karabakh under a five-year mandate.
