 Monitoring center will start its operations in short span of time, says Turkish FM

Armenia has recently committed provocations on the frontline and received a decent response from Azerbaijan, said Turkish FM Mevlut Cavusoglu in an interview with Turkish TV 24, AzVision.az reports.

"If Armenia correctly assesses the situation, this country will also benefit from the settlement process that began after the liberation of the occupied Azerbaijani lands", Cavusoglu noted. 

Turkish FM highlighted the importance of the victory of the Azerbaijani Army on the battlefield in terms of laying the foundations of a new stage of relations in the region. He also stated that Turkey will continue to do its best to turn the situation into long-term peace and development.

"The Monitoring Center, which will allow Turkey and Russia to jointly monitor the ceasefire in the region, will start its operations as soon as possible", he added. 

Note, On December 1, an agreement was signed on the establishment of a joint Turkish-Russian monitoring center. The center is being set up on liberated lands of Azerbaijan, as part of the trilateral agreement signed between Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia.

On November 10, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia signed an agreement to end six weeks of fierce fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Under the agreement, Russian peacekeepers were deployed along the front line in Nagorno-Karabakh and the corridor between the region and Armenia.

A total of 1,960 Russian peacekeepers were deployed in Nagorno-Karabakh under a five-year mandate.
