  Azerbaijan to start building seismic stations in its liberated territories next year

Twenty-two more seismic stations will be built in Azerbaijan in 2021, brining the total number of stations to 84, said Gurban Yetirmishli, Gurban Yetirmishli, Director General of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), said on Monday, AzVision.az reports.

The director general noted that the Center’s 2021 plan of actives also includes the installation of seismic stations in Azerbaijan’s districts liberated from occupation.

“It is planned to build seismic stations in 2021 in Shusha and Jabrail, in 2022 - in Kalbajar and Gubadli districts. In subsequent years, we are also planning to create seismic stations in Zangilan, Lachin, Khojavend, Terter (Talish village), Aghdere and Khankendi. After the installation of these stations, the Center will be able to fully implement seismic observation throughout the country,” Yetirmishli added.
