FM: Turkey wants lasting peace, economic development to be ensured in region

A joint Turkish-Russian ceasefire monitoring center will soon start operating in Nagorno-Karabakh, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said at a joint news conference with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Sochi, AzVision.az reports.

Turkey wants lasting peace, stability and economic development to be ensured in the region, said Cavusoglu, underlining the need for every possible effort to this end.

“Despite all difficulties, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev extended a hand of peace to Armenia and demonstrated good intentions. Turkey’s president also spoke about the possibility of normalizing relations in the region. We will coordinate our work in this direction with Azerbaijan. We want lasting peace, stability and economic development to be ensured in the region,” the minister added.
