On January 6-7, 2021, Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) received series of information on the discovery of shells in Agdam, Agjabadi, Fuzuli, Gubadli, Zangilan, Tartar regions and Shusha city. 6 (six) requests submitted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs "102" Service Call Center, and 1 (one) by the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, AzVision.az reports.

Based on the received 7 callouts, the Agency's special mobile rapid operational teams together with the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs carried out 13 operational and urgent visits. During the operational-search activities 216 pieces unexploded ordnance (UXO), 2 pieces anti-personnel mines, 40 pieces anti-tank mines, 2 pieces weapons, 2 pieces training projectiles, 3 527 pieces small arms amunition of different calibers and 11 pieces exploded shell remnants were found.

The Agency's disposal team destroyed 1,141 pieces mines and unexploded ordnance (UXO), and Mine Risk Education specialists conducted mine risk education sessions and safety instructions among 80,641 civilians.

In general, from September 27, 2020 to January 7, 2021, ANAMA executed 1 831 special operational emergency field visits in response to 2 287 signals (operational calls). Operations took place in the residential areas near the oil pipeline, territory of Mingachevir TPP, Southern Caucasus Pipeline (SCP), arable and pasture areas, roadsides, forests, schools in Aghdam, Agdash, Agjabadi, Barda, Beylagan, Bilasuvar, Jabrayil, Goranboy, Goygol, Naftalan, Kurdemir, Fuzuli, Tartar, Tovuz, Shamkir, Hajigabul, Zardab, Khizi, Khojavend, Oghuz, Gebele districts, Ganja, Shusha and Mingachevir cities. Operations resulted with discovery of 2 631 pieces unexploded ordnance (UXO), 4 346 pieces of anti-personnel mines, 1 557 pieces of anti-tank mines, 1 915 pieces of anti-tank mine explosive fuses, 77 pieces of detonators, 1 439 pieces of 9N235 type bombilets (cluster munitions), 24 515 pieces of small arms amunitions of various calibers, 2 pieces of gas-grenades, 5 568 grams of black gunpowder, 27 pieces of meteorological radio direction detectors for military purposes, 7 pieces of drones (destroyed), 2 pieces missiles’ schemes and 1968 pieces of exploded missile parts.
