Coronavirus: Vaccination to start on January 18 in Azerbaijan

COVID vaccination is scheduled to start on January 18 with priority given to healthcare workers, said Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Head of the Department of Economic Issues and Innovative Development Policy of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahmar Movsumov at a coronavirus press briefing held on January 16.

"Azerbaijan is among the countries that are the first to start vaccination. In most countries, vaccination has not yet begun. Azerbaijan has already acquired high-quality vaccines," Shahmar Movsumov noted.

"A 5 percent drop in the infection rate allows for some softening the restrictions. As a result, it will allow us to gain some time. During this time we will start coronavirus vaccination program on January 18. In the first stage, medical workers will be vaccinated. The process will take approximately 2 weeks. On February 1, the second stage will begin - vaccination of persons over 65 years old," Movsumov stressed.
