ANAMA continues landmine-clearance operations in Azerbaijan

On 18-19 January, 2021 ANAMA received 11 (eleven) emergency calls from the "102 " Service Call Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and 1 (one) call from the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations on artillery projectiles discovered in Agdam, Beylagan, Fuzuli, Gubadli, Zengilan and Tartar regions, AzVision.az reports citing ANAMA.

As response action to the reported 12 emergency calls ANAMA in close cooperation with the specialists of the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted 19 emergency and operational clearance field missions. As reported 19 pieces of unexploded ordnance, 66 pieces of anti-personnel mines, 63 pieces of anti-tank mines, 3 pieces of anti-tank mine fuses, 5 pieces of 14,7 mm cartridges and 14 pieces of exploded shell remnants were found as a result of
missions.

During the search operations 12 100 126 sq.m (1210 hectares), more than 117 km of roads were cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance, 282 buildings were inspected.

ANAMA’s demolition team neutralized 215 pieces of unexploded munitions and 749 pieces of mines. Explosive Ordnance Risk Education Specialists conducted risk awareness sessions among 97 398 civilians.

In general, from September 27 to January 19, 2020, ANAMA executed 1 945 special operational emergency field visits as response action to 2 330 signals (operational calls). In line with the agreed Plan of Action special fact finding missions were executed in the residential areas near the oil pipeline, territory of Mingachevir TPP, Southern Caucasus Pipeline (SCP), arable and pasture areas, roadsides, forests, schools in Aghdam, Agdash, Agjabedi, Barda, Beylagan, Bilasuvar, Jabrayil, Goranboy, Goygol, Naftalan, Kurdemir, Fuzuli, Tartar, Tovuz, Shamkir, Hajigabul, Zardab, Khizi, Khojavend, Oghuz, Gebele districts, Shusha, Ganja and Mingachevir cities, as a result of which 3182 unexploded ordnance (UXO), 4 733 pieces of anti-personnel mines, 1 724 pieces of antitank mines, 1 951 pieces of anti-tank mine explosive fuses, 77 pieces of detonators, 1 444 pieces of 9N235 type bomblets (cluster munitions), 42 278 small arms ammunition of various calibers, 2 pieces of gas-grenades, 5 968 grams of black gunpowder, 275 kg of plastic explosives, 100 meters of tubular explosive load, 150 kg ammonium-nitrate explosives, 27 pieces of meteorological radio direction detectors for military purposes, 7 drones (destroyed), 2 missiles schemes and 2042 exploded missile parts were found.
