  44-day war ended in total victory for Azerbaijan -   Defense Minister

On September 27, 2020, the Azerbaijani Army launched a counterattack to prevent another provocation by the Armenian armed forces. The 44-day war under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief ended with the total victory of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the restoration of its territorial integrity,  Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, said in his speech at the opening ceremony of the Turkish-Russian Joint Monitoring Center, AzVision reports.

The Minister said that a ceasefire was achieved through a trilateral declaration signed between the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the President of the Russian Federation and the Prime Minister of Armenia on November 10, 2020 and the pending conflict in Nagorno Karabakh ended.

"Peace has been achieved in the region as a result of the efforts of the military and political leaders of the Republic of Turkey and the Russian Federation. The Memorandum on the establishment of a joint ceasefire control center signed between Turkey and Russia on November 11, 2020 is of special importance. "

Hasanov noted that the activities of the center will contribute to the establishment of long-term peace and security in the region: “At the same time, we are confident that friendly and working relations will be established between our Turkish and Russian colleagues at the Center. I congratulate the Turkish and Russian military on the opening of the Joint Ceasefire Control Center and wish them success in their combat activities. "
