"The Azerbaijan MoD reported that on May 27, a two-group reconnaissance and sabotage group of the Armenian Armed Forces attempted to carry out terrorist activities by entering the depths of Azerbaijani territory in the direction of Yukhari Ayrim village of Kalbajar district of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
The Azerbaijani Army found disarmed and detained 6 people (2 from the first group and 4 from the second group).
For a long time, Armenia has been pursuing such a policy by deliberately escalating the tensions in the border areas of the two countries. The entering of the reconnaissance group of the Armenian Armed Forces into Azerbaijani lands and their attempts to mine and sabotage the territory are considered acts of terrorism and sabotage.
Azerbaijan has been suffering from the consequences of the landmines planted by Armenia for many years. Further provocations in Azerbaijani territory could pose a serious threat to the lives of Azerbaijani servicemen and the civilians.
Azerbaijan supports the settlement of tensions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border through negotiations and supports the calls of the international community for the delimitation and demarcation of the borders between the two countries.
Any attempts to violate the borders of Azerbaijan are unacceptable. Armenia must refrain from actions aimed at escalating tensions on the border between the two countries and respect the borders of the neighbouring country," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
