President Aliyev signs decree on establishment of East Zangezur and Karabakh economic regions

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on July 7 on the new division of the Republic of Azerbaijan into economic regions, AzVision.az reports.

Under the Decree, Jabrayil, Kalbajar, Gubadli, Lachin, and Zangilan districts are subordinated to the East Zangezur economic region. 

Karabakh economic region covers Khankendi city, Aghjabedi, Aghdam, Berde, Fuzuli, Khojaly, Khojavend, Shusha, and Terter districts in accordance with the relevant Presidential Decree. 

The Decree states that the establishment of the Karabakh economic region is significant in terms of restoration and rapid development of ancient Karabakh region, which has special rich historical-cultural heritage, amazing nature, including Aghdam, Shusha, Fuzuli, Terter, Khojavend, Khojaly districts, and Khankendi city, as well as Aghjabedi and Berde districts, belonging to Karabakh region.
