EU accepts the settlement of the Karabakh conflict

Official Brussels accepts the thought “Karabakh conflict has been resolved and has become history”, which was stated by Azerbaijani President during his meeting with the European officials following the 44-day war.

The remarks by EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi on Azerbaijan have been published on the official website of the European Commission following his visit. He stated that his visit stimulated the partnership relations between Azerbaijan and the EU. During the visit, the sides discussed socio-economic, transport as well as regional and political issues.

“Finally, we discussed the Nagorno-Karabakh post-conflict plan and post-conflict ideas, where we have offered our support as European Union to overcome the aftermath of the war and to work together for long-term peace in the region,” the Commissioner stated.

These thoughts by EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi indicate that the EU accepts the settlement of the Karabakh conflict.

Such remarks of the European Union, one of the world's largest political, economic and diplomatic powers, which unites 27 countries, undermines the expectations and "dreams" of Armenia from the West. Azerbaijan's patience for almost 30 years and actions only within the framework of international law has made the European Union support the new reality of the conflict.
