  Azerbaijan finds 1,323 mines on Fuzuli-Zangilan railway

On July 14, a joint meeting of the working groups on mine clearance and unexploded ordnance and civil-military coordination of the Interdepartmental Center under the Coordination Headquarters established by the relevant order President Ilham Aliyev was held, AzVision.az reports.

The participants first became familiar with the demining process of the Fuzuli - Zangilan (Agband) railway that passes through the villages of Jojug Marjanli and Mehdili.

Idris Ismayilov, representative of the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency, said that a total of 1,323 antipersonnel and anti-tank mines and 14 unexploded ordnance were found in the area. Demining is carried out in three stages.

Major General Anar Karimov, Chief of the Main Department of Engineering Troops of the Defense Ministry, said that 24 hectares have been cleared of mines so far in Fuzuli. A total of 293 hectares will be cleared of mines. To date, more than 15,000 munitions have been destroyed.
