Participants of international scientific-practical conference "Call of Nuvedi: restoration of violated rights" appeal to President Ilham Aliyev

As previously reported, an international scientific and practical conference entitled "Call of Nuvedi: restoration of violated rights", dedicated to the 30th anniversary (1991-2021) of the deportation of residents of the village of Nuvedi of Western Zangezur was held on August 7, AzVision.az reports.

The conference participants adopted an appeal to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

"Dear Mr. President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief,

First of all, we want to express our deep gratitude to you - the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Supreme Commander-in-Chief for your unprecedented services for liberation of Azerbaijani lands from Armenian occupation and restoration of the territorial integrity of our country and finally international justice. The true heroism of the Azerbaijani serviceman, the full support of the Azerbaijani people to your policy and the strong and confident policy founded by the national leader Heydar Aliyev have raised Azerbaijan's reputation on the international arena.

The policy of international crimes committed by Armenian chauvinists against the Azerbaijani people and Azerbaijani statehood since the 19th century has led to the complete deportation of Azerbaijanis from their ancient homeland, Zangezur. The last Nuvedi village, historically Azerbaijani, inhabited only by Azerbaijanis, was able to withstand Armenian attacks until August 8, 1991. From August 8, 1991 to October 29, 1993, i.e. before the occupation of the Zangilan region by Armenia, the people of Nuvedi settled in the border village of Vejnali in Zangilan. Every day they looked forward to returning to Nuvedi, not far from the village of Vejnali. However, the occupation of the Zangilan region did not allow to realize these dreams.

National leader Heydar Aliyev praised the resistance of the Nuvedi people in 1988-1991 and said: "The people of Nuvedi village are self-restrained people." National leader Heydar Aliyev’s support to the people of Nuvedi from the then blockaded Nakhchivan will never be forgotten.

Until 1929, the village of Nuvedi, located on the border with the Zangilan region was subordinated to the Jabrayil district as a result of the administrative territorial division. According to the illegal decision of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Soviets of Workers', Golden Army and Sailors' Deputies of the Transcaucasian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic dated February 18, 1929, Nuvedi village was transferred from Jabrayil district of the Azerbaijan SSR to Mehri district of the Armenian SSR. This document was considered only in the bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan on November 26, 1968 and was "legalized" by the decree of the Supreme Soviet of the Azerbaijan SSR dated May 7, 1969. Apparently, about two months before the coming to power of national leader Heydar Aliyev, Armenian criminals achieved their dreams with the help of their supporters.

Certainly, this formalization was completely illegal, the consent of the population of the village, including the people of Azerbaijan, was not expressed, and finally, the current Constitution of Azerbaijan was seriously violated. Since the beginning of the last deportation of Azerbaijanis from Armenia in February 1988, the Nuvedis have repeatedly raised the issue of repealing this illegal decree with the leadership of Azerbaijan at that time and the USSR, but failed to achieve their legal demands.

Like the history of Azerbaijani territories, the history of Nuvedi village is very old, and traces of Turkic tribes still remain there. The historical name of Nuvedi village was changed by the Armenian government to "Nrnadzor".

Today, there are about 100,000 Armenians in Azerbaijan, but no Azerbaijanis live in Armenia. It is a great violation of justice.

Your initiatives to ensure peace in the region are also supported by the states. Mutual trust and the restoration of violated human rights will play an important role in the rapprochement of the peoples of Azerbaijan and Armenia in the future. In addition, the return of the residents of Nuvedi village to their native lands will be important in terms of the restoration of new transport communications and security.

We have been appealing to international organizations for almost 4 months. With the exception of some of them, most international organizations have not yet reacted to this issue. We, the residents of Nuvedi, will not pull back from this issue. Only you can support us in this issue as a genius leader and political figure.

As the leader of the world Azerbaijanis and the head of our state protecting the rights of all Azerbaijani citizens, a nation with a long history, We ask you to support the return of the population of Nuvedi village to their homeland, not to allow the rural population to be separated from its history, and to raise this issue in the international arena.”
