First winner of the World Cup competitions in Olympic shooting identified
The Italian Katuskia Spada won the first gold medal of the tournament
As part of passing in the complex trap shooting and archery in Gabala final stage of the competition of the World Cup competitions in Olympic shooting, defined first winners, APA reports quoting “apasport.az”.
Female athletes competed on Skit at the first day of the competition. In competition with the participation of 62 athletes, Nurlan Jafarov and Sevda Mustafayeva represent Azerbaijan.
S. Mustafayeva in the first three stages took 60th place with 49 points, and Jafarov – took the 37th place with 64 points. Both athletes were deprived of the opportunity to speak in the final.
In the final was held between Italian Katuskia Spada and American Morgan Craft. Italian athlete won the first gold medal of the tournament.
In the contest for the bronze Briton Amber Hill was better than Polish girl Yarmolinskaya Alexandra.
Note that in the final stage of the competition for the World Cup, organized by shooting club "Gabala" and the Federation of shooting of Azerbaijan with support of the National Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, attended by up to 2 thousand athletes from one hundred countries.
Athletes will compete in 7 shooting sports for 34 licenses to the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. 27 athletes will represent our country in the competitions. Currently, circular and trench shooting tournaments between men and women are being held. Azerbaijani athletes Emin Jafarov, Nurlana Jafarova, Pasha Ahadpur, Niyaz Alizade and others will compete in the tournaments.
It was reported that the five stages of the competition for the World Cup over the past year have been held in the United States, Germany, UAE, Cyprus and Mexico. Athletes, scored points in the competitions and won places in the world rankings, got the right to take part in the final stage of the competition of the World Cup in Gabala. The sixth stage of the competition - the final - will be held August 8-16 in Gabala. According to the calendar plan of the International Shooting Sport Federation, the competition is considered the most important event in 2015 after the European and World Championships.
