Karabakh peace deal gives green light to both Azerbaijan and Armenia, says Russia

“The people of Azerbaijan united and showed solidarity in the 44-day Patriotic war. They mobilized efforts to liberate their lands from the occupation. Everyone fought in the spirit of victory. I congratulate the Azerbaijani people on the anniversary of the Victory, which was achieved thanks to the country’s strong economy, a powerful army building and the right policies. The whole world has witnessed that Azerbaijan was a strong state in the 2nd Karabakh war,” said Director of the Russian Institute of Political Studies Sergey Markov.

Noting that the November 10 trilateral statement was beneficial for both sides, Markov said that returning the three districts to Azerbaijan without fight meant the survival of hundreds of young soldiers.

“Russia has demonstrated its support for both countries in these difficult times. The trilateral statement gave a "green light" to both Azerbaijan and Armenia, and Russia's role in the signing of this document couldn’t be denied,” he added.
