Bahman pointed to Moscow’s recent diplomatic moves as well as Zarif’s trips to the Persian Gulf and Middle East countries as well as the Indian subcontinent in recent weeks as examples that Iran and Moscow are taking stronger action to meet their mutual concern in Syria.
During his regional tour which started last Tuesday, Zarif paid visits to Lebanon, Syria, Pakistan, and India.
“The two are being diplomatically active to end the crisis with a Syrian-Syrian encounter,” he observed.
He said Iran and Russia are trying to form a unified front against regional terrorism in large.
On the same day, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanai wrote on Facebook that regional affairs will be top on agenda during Zarif’s trip to Moscow.
“During this trip, the priority of enhancing relations with Russia in foreign policy issues will be stressed. Also, new approaches will be viewed to make a new move to boost the two countries’ mutual relations following the [nuclear] deal,” he asserted.
