Azerbaijan discloses number of civilian casualties from landmines in Karabakh

As many as 49 civilians have died and 24 have been injured in landmine explosions in Azerbaijan’s territories liberated from the Armenian occupation, Azerbaijan’s Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) told AzVision.az.

ANAMA said 51 percent of the mine blasts occurred as a result of citizens’ illegal entry into the country’s liberated territories, 26 percent as a result of citizens' leaving the marked territories cleared of mines.

The Agency urged citizens to refrain from illegal trips to mine-contaminated areas.

It stressed that despite the casualties from landmines, Armenia still refuses to hand over maps of minefields to Azerbaijan.
