San Telmo and myself wait for you, nanan olsun!!!
July 9 is the Independence’s day of Argentina… what a day my friends!!! Cheers to Argentina!!!! Anyway, that is not the reason for these words. I am here to invite you to a place called San Telmo, which is in the heart of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

San Telmo is the dreamed neighborhood, at least to me. In San Telmo you can breath Buenos Aires, you can breath tango, pizza and coffee in the streets; you can also feel and taste Latin America at every corner.

There is a street called Defensa. Every Sunday that street remains closed to traffic and a huge (at-least-20-streets-length) open-air fair takes place. There, you could find from homemade food, leather clothes to Colombian coffee. There is also live music. And people from all over the world discovering Latin America and Argentina in this far small piece of the world.

San Telmo is –in my humble opinion- the most magical corner of Buenos Aires. You can smell History walking around the old fashioned and vintage streets, with their colorful bars and cafeterias. Actually, the neighborhood is full of History for real. Just around the corner to my place there is a sort of open market set within an old building. I usually go there to feel closer to Baku since it resembles to me to the 8-ci kilometer open bazaar in Neftciler. You can even find “nar” there. But being honest, one piece of nar not only costs 3 times the price one kilo in Baku but also the taste is not even close to it. I miss the flavor of Azerbaijan.

San Telmo is plenty of bookstores and independent clothes designers’ shops!!! And more than anything, San Telmo is Peronista and Che Guevarista! In many senses, San Telmo is a dream come true… So, what else can I say? San Telmo and myself wait for you, nanan olsun!!!

Sometimes being back in Argentina is funny. From time to time I become the girl “who lived in Azerbaijan during two years”. Sometimes I become a matter of amusement for people who imagine Azerbaijan full of palms, camels and extremist Muslims. So there I am, trying to explain to them that in many ways Azerbaijan gave many new senses to my life by teaching me such a different and wonderful world, full of colors, flavors and feelings.

They do not know that I left home, to come home… and this will be like this for a long time…
