The roots of today's rise in prices go back to some time ago and the Russia-Ukraine war has simply triggered the crisis as both countries play a significant role in global agriculture, the chairman of the Turkish Economic Correspondents Association Turgay Turker told AzVision.
"You can have very powerful weapons. But if you don't have bread to eat, what's the use of all this? Therefore, it is essential to develop a new economic model that can reduce the cost of food, and try to get rid of dependence on foreign sources. I am confident that in the future, the two brotherly countries, Turkey and Azerbaijan, will develop cooperation in this area as well as in other areas. However, the most important goal should be to build ecological agriculture. This is the only way to reduce prices”, Turker stated.
Turgay Turker added that food inflation is at the root of the current inflation. As prices continue to rise, the crisis will deepen: "Currently, European countries are looking for solutions to overcome this situation. Rising energy costs also affect food prices. Of course, there are other factors. It is possible to get out of the situation only by switching to new agricultural models”.
